FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Does Tutoring Work?

Each student at Novins Law Prep works one-on-one with a dedicated tutor. We offer flexible scheduling to fit seamlessly around your work commitments or existing bar course, ensuring you have the time and structure to develop an effective, personalized study plan.

To make this possible, your tutor will:

  1. Meet you where you are, at your home or another convenient location.

  2. Work around your availability, not the other way around.

  3. Customize the program to your unique needs, dedicating the right time and focus to each subject.

With this individualized approach, your preparation is as efficient and targeted as possible, no wasted hours, no one-size-fits-all plans.

Why Novins Legal Tutoring?

At Novins Law Prep, every tutor is personally trained by Drew Novins, Esq. — one of the most experienced Bar exam tutors in the country. Drew is a full-time tutor who scored a 171 on the MBE (top 2%) and has successfully guided students of all skill levels to pass the Bar, including many repeat takers.

Our tutors are experts in Legal Math , a repeatable methodology for all six MBE subjects. This proven system trains students to pinpoint the real issue being tested and eliminate trap answers that are off-topic or irrelevant.

We also teach the Pro/Con Essay Outlining Method, a powerful approach for organizing essay answers. When done correctly, this outline enables students to quickly write a well-structured essay that hits many of the key points found in the model answer.

The goal of tutoring is simple: eliminate weaknesses and build mastery. We move on only when both tutor and student agree the student has solid black-letter law knowledge and a consistent, effective test-taking approach for that subject.

Throughout your preparation, your tutor will provide clear guidance on what to do daily, weekly, and in the final days before the exam — so you walk into test day confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.

Why Should I Hire a Tutor?

  • Convenience: Your tutor comes to you — a game-changer during the hectic Bar season.

  • Confidence: Work with a seasoned Bar professional whose expertise you can trust.

  • Personalization: A fully customized program built around your unique strengths and weaknesses.

  • Proven Techniques: Master test-taking strategies you can apply in practice sessions and on exam day.

  • Immediate Feedback: Get on-the-spot guidance to sharpen your approach to both MBE questions and essay outlining.

Why Should I Get a Tutor...I Already Have a Bar Prep Course?

Traditional bar courses are designed for the masses — not for your unique needs. They follow a one-size-fits-all curriculum, leaving little room to address your specific challenges or learning style.

Working one-on-one with a tutor means you get immediate, targeted feedback on your performance. This ensures you can quickly correct mistakes, refine your technique, and maintain consistency as you tackle every type of question the exam throws at you.

The result? Faster improvement, greater confidence, and a higher chance of passing on the first try.

How Does Tutoring Help Retakers?

For most Bar exam retakers, the challenge isn’t a lack of legal knowledge . It is the absence of a consistent, reliable test-taking approach. Without a proven methodology, it’s easy to fall for trap answers on the MBE or struggle to organize essay responses under time pressure.

At Novins Law Prep, our Legal Math and Pro/Con Essay Outlining methods are designed to give you a repeatable, confidence-building system. You’ll learn exactly how to spot the real issues being tested, avoid common pitfalls, and structure answers that score.

By mastering both the strategy and the timing, you’ll not only raise your MBE and essay scores, you’ll walk into the exam with the calm confidence that comes from knowing you have a game plan you can trust.

What Is The MBE?

What If My Issue Is Timing?

The Legal Math methodology for the MBE trains students to identify the correct side of an issue for a specific, concrete reason. With a clear predicted answer in mind, you can quickly narrow your focus to the two most likely choices, saving valuable time and reducing second-guessing.

The Pro/Con Essay Outlining method teaches students to spot and organize every relevant issue in a way that maximizes points on the grader’s checklist. During the Bar exam, it’s far easier to turn a thorough, well-structured outline into a superior IRAC response than to start from a sparse outline and waste precious minutes figuring out what to write next.

  • The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) is a six-hour, two-hundred question multiple-choice examination covering Contracts, Torts, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law/Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Real Property.

What Is The Three-Day Intensive Program?

Over an intensive three-day program, your tutor will teach the Legal Math methodology for each of the six MBE subjects — four hours per day of focused, high-impact instruction. Once you’ve mastered all six subjects and are scoring well individually, you’ll move into our Olympic MBE Program.

The Olympics are a series of timed, mixed-question drills designed to replicate real Bar exam conditions. By practicing under the same pressure you’ll face on exam day, you’ll build the speed, accuracy, and confidence needed to perform at your best when it counts.
